Yes, agree generally with you Jim about liking some cool, wet weather! But I think that this current cold, dank mainly drizzle has gone on long enough!! i wish that it would rain properly, as what we have had so far though making my garden look green again, has actually done nothing to raise the water levels in the dams!
Anyone who doubts this, need only look ar the Cy Govt Water Development Dept website, then click on water levels in the dans,to see what the current levels are. The Asprokremnos Dam is only 34.1 % full at present. The Kouris Dam, the largest on the island is currently 9.7% fulll.
We need a lot more rain in terms of volume of water produced to make a difference. Especially as Paphos does not have its own desalination plant now, unlike other towns.

Dee, I believe that water levels in the dams are greatly assisted by melt from snow in the Troodos. Given that roads to the Troodos were completely closed due to snow today, that suggests that in the fullness of time some of that snow will help raise water levels. Anyway, there's plenty of time yet: winter has only just started in earnest and Jan/Feb/March can be very wet months.

I think this is the longest period of cold, drizzily weather I have known in the 13 years I have lived in Cyprus.
I know we need the rain, but let's have some good downpours, then bring back the sunshine.

Hear, hear, Phil! That's what I was thinking..... but this as you said is proving a very unusual weather pattern for Cyprus. I can't remember such cold and drizzly weather lasting for so long in my previous 16 winters spent in Cyprus previous to this.
And according to what I saw on BBC world weather today, it may get even colder. There is a forecast of extensive snow for Turkey, and temps of 2 - 4 c for Athens!
