Jim I wish you & Baz the compliments of the season but afraid it leaves me cold. Many people can buy what they want throughout the year so no surprises but the thing I am looking forward to is the gig we have put on for the last 8 years on Christmas day. This year it's a local hospice for those suffering from dimentia & we have 11 young musicians prepared to forfeit a couple of hours

I'm hoping we get more of this, come the first of 2017....

I have no religious beliefs so Christmas to me really is just an extreme hype of overspending and people (especially separated families with children) each trying to outdo each other in the present department. Been there, seen it, and told them to shove it... not a nice thing. Me and hubby both walked away from it and swore never to get caught up in it. What we bought was our business and nobody else's.

I just wish people would learn how to rub along side by side with people and strangers without always looking for the bad side first :( Having travelled extensively with my job and worked over the years with so many people from different walks of life and nationalities, I feel I've broadened my horizons somewhat and can see good things in most people. It's very rare I take against anyone immediately - but when that happens, I rarely change my opinion.

So, if you're in my good books - you're staying there :D
Have a good one :-h

I always think Christmas is for children, as you say we can buy most things we wish all year, but it is about the spirit of Christmas, I am not at all religious and I have not stepped into a shop this year, but I do try and make our Christmas for our family, the way it should be. Hopefully BBQ on tomorrow and not a Turkey in sight.

Please try to have a good time, life passes by so quickly these days..

We're off to the local pub tomorrow lunchtime with friends we've made in the village - Christmas jumpers are obligatory apparently. Then it will be back to ours with Mum for a traditional Christmas dinner, which of course involves turkey.... Hubby is doing the cooking

When we were in UK (before Cyprus) we always had dinner at home but in Cyprus - we always went out, whether it be to friends or restaurants.

New Years Eve (much more up my street), we have a table for 9 people reserved at the Working Men's Club where we will have a comedian, a duo and a DJ to entertain us through the night. We're taking food in with us as the kitchen is having a night off and shall be celebrating into the wee small hours.

HI Jules,
That sounds like great fun! :ymparty: as long as you are with friends/family that make you laugh/enjoy togetherness, it really doesn't matter where you are.

I wish everyone on CL a Very Merry Christmas....& hope you all have a ' Good Un ' :ymparty:

Christmas Greetings to everyone on the forum and hope you all have an enjoyable day where ever you are and in whatever way feels right for you. Santa did his rounds some time overnight and enjoyed the mince pie, but neither of us saw him! No cooking for me today and we have been pacing ourselves the past week to make sure we enjoy our traditional Christmas lunch later in the day. Best wishes for a healthy and happy 2017.
